Easter At The Lviv Market
Posted on 19 April 2016
I have recently come back from a fabulous 3 week trip to Ukraine. One of my favourite things to do while I am in Lviv is visit the markets. This city has some great markets for you to discover. One of my favourite is right in the heart of the old city off Svobody Ave by the Opera House called Vernissage.
This year I was lucky to spend time roaming through it on Easter Sunday. It's the perfect little market that offers anything and everything your little heart desires. Some of the gems you will find are hand embroidered Vyshyvanka’s, jewellery, souvenirs and antiques to paintings and clothing.
The sun was shining and it was a perfect day to bargain for some goodies. The vendors were joking amongst themselves, eating their lunch which consisted of borsch in a plastic cup with a piece of bread. They are always smiling, ready to sell you on a good deal.
The embroidery ladies are always eager to show you their newest creation.
I had one that caught my eye and although I excused it at first, I gave into temptation and purchased it. I have never seen grey toned embroidered vyshyvanka’s and thought it would be perfect to add to my Ukie Friday collection. I also must admit, that it is my first HAND embroidered blouse I own
If you are planning on going to Lviv, make sure you put this little market on your list.
